CoaguChek meters measure prothrombin time from a small drop of fresh whole blood using amperometric (electrochemical) detection, with quality control built into every strip. The CoaguChek Pro II is the professional system: PT/INR in approximately one minute and aPTT in under five, with a touchscreen, barcode scanner and wireless data transfer for wards, emergency departments, operating theatres, ICUs and anticoagulation clinics. The CoaguChek INRange is the single-patient meter for selected, trained patients on vitamin K antagonist therapy, with Bluetooth and USB to share results with their clinician.

One drop, one minute
Both meters read PT/INR from at least 8 µL of fresh whole blood, so a fingerstick replaces a venous draw and a wait for the laboratory.
Pro II adds aPTT
The professional meter runs aPTT as well as PT/INR, with aPTT results in under five minutes, supporting heparin monitoring and the assessment of coagulopathies near the patient.
Control on every strip
Quality control runs on each strip through the same channel as the blood. The Pro II adds QC lockout, operator and patient IDs and administrator protection.
Results that travel
The Pro II sends data by wireless connection or QR code to a data management system. The INRange shares results with the clinician by Bluetooth or USB and shows the patient's target range.

Is CoaguChek available in the UAE and the GCC?

What is the difference between the Pro II and the INRange?
The Pro II is for healthcare professionals and runs PT/INR and aPTT, with operator IDs, QC lockout and wireless data transfer. The INRange is a single-patient meter for trained patients self-testing PT/INR at home and is not intended for professional settings.
Which test strips do they use?
The Pro II uses CoaguChek PT Test and CoaguChek aPTT Test strips. The INRange uses CoaguChek XS PT Test PST strips. Strips are specific to each system, so confirm the meter when ordering.
Can CoaguChek be used for patients on heparin?
Roche states the INRange PT strip is not sensitive to heparin at therapeutic levels (up to 0.8 IU/mL UFH and 2 anti-Xa U/mL LMWH). The Pro II aPTT test can be used to monitor unfractionated heparin, as Roche describes.
Does Gulf heat affect testing?
Roche specifies an operating range of +12 °C to +32 °C for the Pro II and +15 °C to +32 °C for the INRange, so testing should be done indoors in air-conditioned rooms. INRange strips are stable for 21 months from production at +2 °C to +30 °C.
