Acapella
Clear airways. In any position.
As the patient breathes out through the Acapella, the device combines positive expiratory pressure with airway vibrations to help move retained secretions. A dial adjusts frequency and flow resistance, and the patented rocker mechanism works sitting, standing, reclining or in Trendelenburg. Three models match different patients: DH (green) and Choice Blue for expiratory flows above 15 L/min, and DM (blue) for flows below 15 L/min. A nebuliser can be fitted proximally for combined treatment.
Key specifications
Why the Acapella
PEP plus vibration
Each exhalation creates positive pressure and airway vibrations that help loosen and move retained secretions.
Three models, matched to flow
DH and Choice Blue suit patients with an expiratory flow above 15 L/min; DM is for patients below 15 L/min.
Works in any position
The rocker mechanism functions sitting, standing, reclining or in Trendelenburg, so therapy can follow postural drainage.
Shorter sessions
ICU Medical cites 15–20 minutes of therapy against 20–40 minutes for traditional chest physiotherapy, and it can be combined with nebulised medication.
Easy to clean
Choice Blue disassembles into four parts for washing in warm soapy water or the dishwasher, and can be disinfected by boiling.
Where it is used
Respiratory wards and physiotherapy, cystic fibrosis and COPD clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation and continued therapy at home after discharge.
In the box

Questions
Is the Acapella available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources Acapella DH, DM and Choice Blue devices and replacement mouthpieces on request for hospitals, physiotherapy departments and home-care providers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
DH, DM or Choice Blue: which one?
Choose by the patient's expiratory flow. DH (green) and Choice Blue are for patients who can exhale above 15 L/min; DM (blue) is for patients below 15 L/min. Choice Blue also has enhanced dial markings with 20 settings and comes apart fully for cleaning.
How long does a session take?
ICU Medical states 15–20 minutes of therapy, against 20–40 minutes for traditional chest physiotherapy. The dial setting and frequency of sessions are set by the clinician.
Can it be used with a nebuliser?
Yes. A nebuliser can be placed proximally on the Acapella so medication and PEP therapy are given together; DH and DM use a tee adapter.
How is it cleaned and how long does it last?
Acapella Choice Blue comes apart into four parts for daily washing in warm soapy water or the dishwasher top rack, and can be disinfected by boiling. ICU Medical gives a device lifetime of six months.
