Bongo Rx
Sleep apnoea therapy. No machine.
Bongo Rx sits in the nostrils and uses expiratory positive airway pressure: valves open fully on inhalation, then close on exhalation so air leaves through small vents, creating back-pressure that helps keep the airway open. It is FDA cleared for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea in adults over 30 kg (66 lb). The starter kit lets the patient try four seal sizes at home, and each device is reused for about 90 days. It needs no electricity, which suits travel and patients who do not tolerate CPAP.
Key specifications
Why the Bongo Rx
Pressure from your own breath
One-way valves let a full breath in, then close on exhalation so air leaves through vents. The resulting back-pressure helps hold the upper airway open during sleep.
No hose, no mask, no power
Bongo Rx works without a machine, tubing or electricity, so it suits travel, camping and patients who cannot tolerate CPAP equipment.
Fitted at home
The starter kit includes one device in each of four sizes. Patients start with the smallest and choose the size that seals comfortably without sitting too deep.
Reusable for 90 days
Each device is washed with soap and water and reused for about three months; an annual replenishment pack holds four devices of the chosen size.
Where it is used
Sleep clinics, ENT and respiratory practices, and home use under prescription for adults diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea.

Questions
Is the Bongo Rx available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources Bongo Rx on request for sleep clinics, hospitals and pharmacies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Who is it for?
Adults over 30 kg (66 lb) diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea, as cleared by the FDA. It is a prescription device; a sleep study and a physician's assessment come first.
How is it different from CPAP?
CPAP blows pressurised air through a mask from a powered machine. Bongo Rx creates pressure only on exhalation using the patient's own breath, with no machine, hose or electricity. It is not cleared for severe sleep apnoea.
How long does each device last?
AirAvant states each device can be reused for up to 90 days with soap-and-water cleaning. An annual replenishment pack contains four devices of one size.
How is the right size chosen?
The starter kit contains all four sizes. The patient starts with the smallest and tries each until the seals are comfortable and not inserted too deeply.
