EMST150
Stronger breath out. Stronger cough.
The EMST150 uses a calibrated pressure relief valve: the user must blow hard enough to open it, which places an isometric load on the muscles used to breathe out, cough and swallow. Resistance is set between 30 and 150 cmH₂O so training can progress as strength improves. Aspire cites nearly two decades of research, including studies in Parkinson's disease, stroke, head and neck cancer, multiple sclerosis and ALS. It is used in speech and swallowing therapy, respiratory rehabilitation and home programmes.
Key specifications
Why the EMST150
Load the muscles that matter
Blowing through the calibrated valve loads the muscles used for breathing out, coughing and swallowing, in the way a weight machine loads a limb.
Progress in fine steps
Resistance adjusts from 30 to 150 cmH₂O, so a clinician can start low and raise the load as the patient grows stronger.
Built on research
Aspire cites nearly 20 years of studies, including Parkinson's disease, stroke, head and neck cancer, multiple sclerosis, ALS and spinal cord injury.
Add inspiratory training
The separate IA150 adapter converts the trainer for inspiratory muscle strength work, so one device can cover both directions.
Where it is used
Speech and language therapy, dysphagia and voice clinics, pulmonary and neurological rehabilitation, and supervised home exercise programmes.

How do I get a price?
Add the EMST150 to your quote list or use Request a quote, with any IA150 adapters you need. We reply with pricing, lead time and documents for your country.
What is the difference between the EMST150 and the EMST75 Lite?
Both are Aspire expiratory trainers. The EMST150 covers 30 to 150 cmH₂O; the EMST75 Lite is the lower-pressure model for users who need a lighter starting load.
Can it train inspiratory muscles too?
Yes, with the IA150 inspiratory adapter, sold separately or as a bundle with the EMST150.
Who should check with a doctor before using it?
The manual advises consulting a doctor first if pregnant, or with untreated hypertension, a recent stroke or raised intracranial pressure, among other conditions. Training programmes are usually set by a speech-language pathologist or respiratory therapist.
Can one trainer be shared between patients?
No. It is intended for one person; only the mouthpiece is removable for cleaning.
