Ampcare ESP pairs NMES delivered through Ampcare's E Series electrodes with effortful swallowing exercises, while the Restorative Posture Device supports head position and electrode placement. The pocket-sized ES stimulator offers two preset programmes (ESP 1 and ESP 2) at 30 Hz with 5-second stimulation and selectable rest times, giving 60, 72 or up to 90 swallowing attempts in a 30-minute session, plus a manual mode. Ampcare requires clinicians to complete its certification training before buying the device and electrodes.

Why the Ampcare ESP
Stimulation plus exercise
ESP combines NMES with resistive, effortful swallowing exercises and posture, following principles of task-specific, repetitive and resistive training.
Preset, repeatable sessions
Two preset programmes run 5 seconds of stimulation with 15, 20 or 25 seconds of rest over 30 minutes, for 60 to 90 swallowing attempts per session.
Posture that holds placement
The Restorative Posture Device supports head and neck position and helps stabilise electrode placement for submental stimulation.
Economical electrodes
E Series electrodes are reusable for the same patient for about five treatments per pair, with smaller electrodes available for some paediatric patients.

Do clinicians need training?
Yes. Ampcare requires completion of its certification course (8 or 10 hours, live, online or hybrid) before clinicians can buy and use the ES device and E Series electrodes.
How is ESP different from VitalStim?
Both are FDA-cleared NMES approaches for dysphagia. Ampcare ESP uses its own submental electrode placement, 30 Hz presets, a posture device and a structured resistive exercise protocol.
Who should not receive ESP?
Ampcare advises against use with implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators unless the proper protocol is followed, and over active neoplasm or infection. Use caution in seizure disorders.
How long is a course of treatment?
Ampcare recommends 30-minute sessions, typically 3 to 5 times a week. It notes many patients see improvement within about 10 to 20 sessions.
