Reichert
Aligned. Then measured.
Tono-Vera uses rebound tonometry: a light, single-use Ocu-Dot probe briefly touches the cornea and the device calculates IOP from its rebound, so no topical anaesthetic or air puff is needed. The ActiView positioning system shows a full-colour view of the eye with alignment prompts, and the device measures automatically once distance, centration and probe angle are correct, giving a result in as few as three measurements. Colour-coded rings show the confidence of each result. It comes as a rechargeable or AA-battery model, with a base that docks, charges and dispenses probes.
Key specifications
Why the Tono-Vera
No drops, no puff
Rebound tonometry uses a light, single-use probe that touches the cornea for an instant, so patients need no anaesthetic drops and feel no air puff.
Guided to the apex
ActiView shows a colour view of the eye with interactive prompts, then measures automatically when distance, centration and angle are right, which Reichert says makes readings more objective and repeatable.
Confidence you can see
A green ring marks a high-confidence result, yellow a low-confidence result and orange a measurement to retake.
A base for everything
The included base docks the device, charges the rechargeable model and stores and dispenses Ocu-Dot probes. A carry case takes it to the bedside or outreach clinic.
Connected
Bluetooth sends results to electronic health records through ReichertSync and receives software updates. No routine calibration is required.
Where it is used
Optometry and ophthalmology practices, glaucoma clinics, mobile and outreach eye care, and hospital clinics where fast, drop-free IOP screening suits the patient flow.

Questions
Is the Tono-Vera available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the Tono-Vera and Ocu-Dot probes on request for eye clinics, optometry practices and hospitals in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
How does it compare with Goldmann tonometry?
Reichert reports Tono-Vera is highly correlated with Goldmann and meets international standards for tonometer accuracy, specifying ±1.0 mmHg up to 20 mmHg and ±2.0 mmHg above. It needs no anaesthetic or fluorescein.
Can it measure patients lying down?
The probe must stay within ±15° of horizontal, but the device can rotate 360° around the probe axis, so reclined or recumbent patients can be measured with the head turned to the side.
Which probes does it use?
Only Reichert Ocu-Dot single-use probes, in boxes of 100. Reichert states probes from other rebound tonometers are not interchangeable.
Rechargeable or AA model?
The rechargeable model charges in the base; the AA model takes four AA batteries and suits travel. The battery packs are interchangeable between models.
