iCare
Rebound tonometry, at the slit lamp.
The iCare ST500 brings iCare's rebound technology to the slit lamp, the instrument most eye clinics already use for every patient. The tonometer attaches through a universal adapter to most slit lamps with an 8 mm focus rod mounting hole, so the chin and forehead rest hold the patient steady while a single-use probe makes momentary contact with the cornea. No anaesthetic, fluorescein, disinfection or calibration is needed, and a SmartCradle charges the tonometer and holds the probe applicator, probe box and optional remote control. iCare describes it as the first slit-lamp-mounted rebound tonometer.
Key specifications
Why the iCare ST500
Part of the slit lamp exam
IOP becomes a step of the standard slit lamp examination. The ST500 mounts on most slit lamps with an 8 mm focus rod hole, so there is no separate instrument to bring in.
Steady patient, steady reading
The chin and forehead rest hold the patient in position, which iCare says minimises repositioning and operator subjectivity and gives repeatable results with minimal training.
No drops, no dye
Rebound measurement needs no topical anaesthetic or fluorescein and leaves the cornea unaffected for later diagnostics. The contact is barely noticed by the patient.
Quick Measure
Two or three rapid readings instead of the standard six shorten the test for anxious patients or those who struggle to keep their eyes open.
Everything docks
The SmartCradle charges the tonometer and holds the adapter, probe applicator, probe box and optional remote control. Single-use probes remove disinfection between patients.
Where it is used
High-volume ophthalmology and optometry clinics, hospital eye departments and glaucoma clinics that measure IOP at the slit lamp.

Questions
Is the iCare ST500 available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the iCare ST500 and its probes on request for eye clinics, hospitals and optometry practices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability and lead time are confirmed with each quotation.
Will it fit our slit lamp?
iCare states the ST500 fits the majority of common slit lamps that have an 8 mm focus rod mounting hole, using the universal TD01 adapter. The slit lamp is not included. Send us the make and model of your slit lamp and we confirm compatibility with the quotation.
How does it compare with Goldmann applanation tonometry?
iCare reports that clinical validation shows high agreement with applanation tonometry, with repeatable results independent of operator skill. Unlike Goldmann, it needs no anaesthetic drops, fluorescein or probe disinfection, and stated accuracy is ±1.2 mmHg up to 20 mmHg and ±2.2 mmHg above.
Should we choose the ST500 or a handheld IC100 or IC200?
All share iCare rebound technology and the same 7–50 mmHg range. The ST500 suits clinics that examine every patient at the slit lamp and want stable positioning and a rechargeable, docked device. The IC100 is handheld for sitting or standing patients; the IC200 also measures supine patients at the bedside or in theatre.
Which probes does it use, and does it need calibration?
iCare's TP01 probe page lists the ST500 with the IC100, IC200 and TA01i; TP01 probes come in boxes of 100 or 600 and are loaded with the supplied applicator. No calibration is needed. The tonometer battery is not user-replaceable, so battery service goes through the manufacturer.
