iCare
Eye pressure, measured at home.
The iCare HOME2 applies the same rebound technology as iCare's clinical tonometers in a device designed for patients. A smart light guide, on-screen instructions and sound notifications help the patient find the right distance and alignment, and a sterile single-use TP022 probe touches the cornea briefly without drops or anaesthetic. Measurements can be taken sitting, reclined or supine, including at night and on waking, and are uploaded with the iCare PATIENT2 app or iCare EXPORT to iCare CLINIC, where the doctor reviews diurnal IOP patterns and can receive an email alert above a preset limit.
Key specifications
Why the iCare HOME2
IOP beyond office hours
Patients measure at different times of the day and night, which can reveal IOP peaks and fluctuations that a single clinic reading misses and supports treatment decisions.
Guided self-measurement
A smart light guide, on-screen instructions and sound notifications lead the patient to a quality measurement. iCare states most patients can start using HOME2 with its support materials alone.
Lying down, too
Measurements can be taken sitting, reclined or supine, so night-time and early-morning supine readings complete the picture of diurnal IOP.
Data straight to the clinic
The PATIENT2 app uploads readings to iCare CLINIC, where the doctor sees diurnal reports and period comparisons and can receive an email alert when IOP passes a preset limit.
Two ways to deploy
Connect HOME2 to the clinic's CLINIC account for supervised monitoring, or to the patient's private iCare CLOUD account with access for the doctor on invitation.
Where it is used
Glaucoma clinics and ophthalmology departments for diurnal monitoring, medication changes and post-surgical follow-up, and patients living far from their clinic.

Questions
Is the iCare HOME2 available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the iCare HOME2 and TP022 probes on request for eye clinics, glaucoma services and their patients in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability and lead time are confirmed with each quotation.
Can patients learn to use it on their own?
iCare states most patients can start using HOME2 without training, based on its support materials, and the light guide and sound cues assist each measurement. Studies of the predecessor iCare HOME reported about 20 minutes to learn. Most clinics still check the technique when they hand the device over.
How accurate is home self-tonometry compared with Goldmann?
HOME2 has the same stated accuracy as iCare's clinical tonometers: ±1.2 mmHg up to 20 mmHg and ±2.2 mmHg above. For the predecessor iCare HOME, published studies reported mean differences from Goldmann of −1.31 to +0.7 mmHg, with one study at −2.7 mmHg.
How do the readings reach the doctor?
The patient connects HOME2 to a smartphone running the iCare PATIENT2 app with the supplied USB-C cable, or uploads from a Windows PC with iCare EXPORT. Results go to iCare CLINIC, available as a cloud service or on the clinic's own servers, where the doctor reviews them and can set email alerts.
What is the difference between HOME and HOME2?
HOME2 is the current model and succeeds the original iCare HOME, which iCare cites as its predecessor. HOME2 adds the smart light guide with screen and sound prompts and the PATIENT2 smartphone app. Both use the same sterile TP022 probes, 20 per box.
