Zip
Closed without a puncture.
Zip uses a hydrocolloid adhesive designed to stick to the skin on both sides of the incision, linked by an adjustable scaffold-like structure that draws the edges together and applies dynamic compression. Because nothing passes through the skin, there are no needle or staple entry sites around the wound. Devices are sized to incision length, from 4 to 24 cm, and kits combine the closure with a dressing. Stryker cites studies in knee and ankle arthroplasty, cardiac device and congenital heart surgery, and emergency department lacerations.
Key specifications
Why the Zip skin closure
No needles, no staples
Zip holds the incision closed from the skin surface, so there are no additional entry sites around the wound and nothing to cut out at follow-up.
Adjustable closure
The scaffold-like structure lets the clinician set and adjust edge approximation, while dynamic compression helps maintain wound integrity.
Sized to the incision
Four lengths from 4 to 24 cm match incisions from small excisions to joint replacement, with ZipSeal kits pairing closure and dressing.
Simple removal
Stryker states Zip is easier and less painful to apply and remove than sutures or staples, reducing post-operative removal visits.
Where it is used
Orthopaedic and joint replacement theatres, cardiac and cardiac device surgery, paediatric surgery and emergency departments for lacerations.
In the box

How do I get a price?
Add it to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents available for your country.
Is Zip still made now that ZipLine Medical is part of Stryker?
Yes. Zip 4, 8i, 16 and 24 and the ZipSeal kits are listed under Stryker Corporation as in commercial distribution, and Stryker maintains current Zip product pages.
Which size should be used?
Choose by incision length: Zip 4, 8i, 16 or 24 cover incisions up to 4, 8, 16 and 24 cm respectively.
Does it replace deep sutures?
Zip closes the skin surface. Deeper layers are closed as the surgeon normally would before the device is applied.
How should it be stored?
Keep dry and away from sunlight and heat, which matters for warehousing and transport in Gulf summers.
