Skedco
Rolls up. Lifts out.
The Sked stretcher does the job of a Stokes basket in a pack 23 cm across. Laid flat it measures about 91 × 244 cm; wrapped around the patient, the medium-density polyethylene becomes rigid and protects them during extrication. The Basic Rescue System adds horizontal lift slings for helicopter hoisting, a vertical lift sling for caves and confined spaces, a tow strap, handles and a carabiner, all carried in a Cordura backpack.
Key specifications
Why the Sked Basic Rescue System
Small until needed
Rolled in its Cordura backpack the Sked is 23 cm across and 91 cm long, light enough for one rescuer to carry to the patient.
Rigid around the patient
Once the patient is packaged, the polyethylene sheet forms a rigid shell that protects them during extrication and drag.
Horizontal or vertical
Horizontal lift slings rated at 9,000 lb webbing strength for helicopter hoisting; a vertical sling for caves, shafts and industrial confined spaces.
Built for extremes
The E-Z Glide polyethylene stays usable down to −84 °C / −120 °F without becoming brittle, and its smooth underside is made for dragging the packaged patient.
Where it is used
Confined space and high-angle rescue, oil and gas and industrial sites, civil defence, military casualty evacuation, mountain and marine rescue.

Questions
Is the Sked Basic Rescue System available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the Sked Basic Rescue System on request for civil defence, industrial, oil and gas, military and EMS buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Steel buckles or Cobra buckles?
Both versions share the same stretcher and accessories. Cobra buckles are fitted to military stretchers and are an option on others; steel buckles are the standard version (SK-200-OR).
Can it be used for helicopter hoisting?
Yes. The maker designs it for horizontal hoisting by helicopter using the included horizontal lift slings, and for vertical hoisting in caves or industrial confined spaces using the vertical lift sling. Rescue teams should be trained in Sked packaging and rigging.
Does it provide spinal immobilisation?
The Sked itself is a stretcher. For spinal immobilisation, Skedco offers the Oregon Spine Splint II as an option used inside the Sked, following your clinical protocol.
Is it suitable for the heat and sand of the Gulf?
Skedco specifies cold-weather performance only; it does not publish an upper temperature limit. We confirm storage guidance for Gulf conditions with the quotation.
