North American Rescue
Two wounds. Two seals.
HyFin Vent is a vented chest seal for the prevention, management and treatment of open and/or tension pneumothorax caused by penetrating chest trauma. Three patented vent channels let air and blood escape on exhalation while blocking air from entering the chest on inhalation, and the vent stays functional even if two of the three channels are blocked. The twin pack holds two individually packaged seals, each with a gauze pad, so responders can treat an entry and an exit wound or keep one in reserve.
Key specifications
Why the HyFin Vent
Vents in three directions
Three channels let air and blood out on exhalation and block air coming in on inhalation. NAR states the vent keeps working even if two of the three channels are blocked.
Holds on difficult skin
The adhesive is designed to stay put on sweaty, bloody or hairy casualties, where ordinary dressings tend to lift.
One pull to apply
A large red tab gives single-step peel-and-apply placement and lets the wound be burped if needed. The clear backing helps position the seal over the wound.
Two seals, one pouch
Each seal is packed separately in a perforated twin pouch, so one can be opened for an entry wound and the other kept for an exit wound.
Where it is used
Tactical and military medicine, EMS and ambulance services, law enforcement, workplace first-aid and humanitarian field kits, following TCCC and TECC guidelines.
In the box
Two individually packaged HyFin Vent chest seals, each with a gauze pad for wiping the wound site, in a perforated twin foil pouch. Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.

Why a twin pack?
Penetrating chest injuries often have an entry and an exit wound. The twin pack gives two individually sealed dressings, each with its own gauze pad, so both wounds can be covered or one kept in reserve.
What happens if blood blocks the vent?
NAR states the three-channel vent remains functional even if two channels are blocked. The pouch also reminds users to keep monitoring the casualty for respiratory distress and follow established protocols.
Is there a single-seal version?
Yes. North American Rescue also lists the HyFin Vent chest seal as an individual pack (item 10-0029). Tell us which configuration your kits use.
Does it contain latex?
The pouch states the product is not made with natural rubber latex.
