CELOX

One minute of pressure.

CELOX Rapid is a 7.6 cm × 1.5 m Z-folded gauze coated with Chito-R activated chitosan granules, which form an adhesive gel on wet tissue and seal the wound independently of the body's clotting cascade. After packing, firm pressure is applied for one minute or until bleeding stops, which shortens the compression time of standard haemostatic gauze. It is the haemostatic of choice of the UK Ministry of Defence and is designed to work in hypothermic patients and those on anticoagulants.

Why the CELOX Rapid

One-minute compression

Pack the gauze into the bleeding source, then apply firm pressure for one minute or until bleeding stops, rather than the longer holds typical of standard haemostatic gauze.

Works without clotting

Chitosan granules form an adhesive gel that seals the wound independently of the clotting cascade, so it is designed for hypothermic patients, anticoagulated patients and trauma-induced coagulopathy.

Optional X-ray strip

An X-ray detectable version (FG08839391) helps receiving teams locate the dressing, useful where protocols require radiopaque packing.

Made for heat

Medtrade reports stability studies at 40 °C and 60 °C and through freeze–thaw cycles with no detrimental effect, relevant for vehicle and outdoor kits in Gulf summers.

Where it is used

Military and police medics, ambulance services, emergency departments, bleeding-control kits, and junctional wounds where a tourniquet cannot be applied.

In the box

One sterile CELOX Rapid Z-fold gauze strip, 7.6 cm × 1.5 m, in a tear-open pouch with instructions printed on the pack. Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.

Questions

Is CELOX Rapid available in the UAE and the GCC?

Yes. KGG sources CELOX Rapid on request for hospitals, ambulance services, security and defence organisations, and corporate safety programmes in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.

How do I get a price?

Add CELOX Rapid to your quote list or use Request a quote, stating whether you need the X-ray detectable version. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents available for your country.

How does it differ from kaolin gauze such as QuikClot?

Kaolin dressings accelerate the body's own clotting cascade. CELOX Rapid uses chitosan, which forms an adhesive gel independent of clotting, and needs one minute of compression according to the IFU.

What about shellfish allergy?

The chitosan is derived from shellfish. Medtrade states its allergy studies showed no adverse reaction and that no allergic reactions have been known or suspected since launch in 2006. Follow your local protocol.

Can it be stored in hot vehicles?

Medtrade advises dry, ambient storage with no special conditions and reports stability testing at 40 °C and 60 °C and through freeze–thaw. Check the expiry printed on each pack; shelf life is five years.

Can it be used inside the abdomen?

No. The IFU contraindicates use in abdominal wounds, wounds that cannot be compressed, packing into body cavities and surgical use. It is for temporary external use.
