SAM Medical
Seals, vents, reseals.
SAM Chest Seal is a temporary dressing for penetrating chest wounds that could compromise the pleural space, such as gunshot, stab and fragment wounds, left in place while the patient is transported to hospital. The Valved 2.0 model uses the TruFlow valve, a rigid raised dome that allows one-way airflow out of the chest cavity, with large side vents to reduce blockage from blood clots or soft tissue. The oval hydrogel seal adheres in the presence of blood, hair, sweat, sand and water, and can be lifted to vent and pressed back to reseal.
Key specifications
Why the SAM Chest Seal
A valve that keeps venting
The TruFlow valve is a rigid dome with large side vents, built to keep one-way airflow during transport and under heavy body armour.
Seal, vent, reseal
The hydrogel holds through blood, hair, sweat, sand and water. If needed, a tab lifts one edge to vent the wound, and the seal presses back down.
Oval for coverage
The oval shape gives a larger sealing area than many occlusive dressings, and the transparent, elastic backing conforms to the chest.
Six years on the shelf
A six-year shelf life reduces how often kits need restocking, which matters for vehicle, aircraft and public-access kits.
Where it is used
Military and tactical medicine, EMS and ambulance services, emergency departments, law-enforcement kits and humanitarian field teams.

How do I get a price?
Add the SAM Chest Seal to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents available for your country.
Valved, non-valved or combo?
Valved 2.0 (CS202-EN) holds one dressing with the TruFlow valve. Non-valved (CS201-EN) holds two occlusive dressings. Combo (CS203-EN) holds one of each. Choose to match your protocol.
What if the valve becomes blocked?
The IFU says a clogged valve may make the dressing fully occlusive. The operator may flush it with sterile saline and must keep monitoring for tension pneumothorax, venting the wound or decompressing if signs appear.
What is the shelf life?
SAM states a six-year shelf life. Use-by dates are printed on each pouch.
Does it hold in Gulf heat?
SAM says the seal sticks in extreme heat or cold, but it does not publish a numeric temperature range. We can request storage guidance from SAM with the quotation.
