Ready-Heat

Open it. It warms.

Each Ready-Heat blanket is sealed in an oxygen-free pouch. Once opened, the heating panels react with oxygen in the air, reach about 40 °C within 15–20 minutes and keep warming for up to 10 hours, with no batteries or mains supply. The maker describes them for use in shock and hypothermia, and their tensile strength lets them serve as an evacuation litter for a person up to 115 kg if needed. The 4 panel is the heat source in the HPMK and is approved by the US military for fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.

Why the Ready-Heat blanket

Heat without power

Opening the pouch starts an oxygen reaction in the panels. No batteries, no mains, nothing to switch on.

Ten hours of warmth

The blanket warms gradually to about 40 °C in 15–20 minutes and keeps warming for up to 10 hours, long enough for extended evacuation.

Two sizes

The 4 panel covers the torso and fits inside the HPMK; the 6 panel covers the full body for transport and air evacuation.

Strong enough to carry

High tensile strength means either size can be used as an improvised evacuation litter for a person up to 115 kg.

Where it is used

Tactical casualty care, ambulance and air transport, civil defence and mass-casualty response, cold-water and mountain rescue.

In the box

One Ready-Heat blanket individually sealed in an oxygen-free poly pouch, with instructions for use. Supplied by the case: 8 blankets per case for both 4 panel and 6 panel. Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.

Questions

Is the Ready-Heat blanket available in the UAE and the GCC?

KGG sources Ready-Heat 4 panel and 6 panel blankets on request for military, EMS, civil defence and hospital buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.

4 panel or 6 panel: which do I need?

The 4 panel (86 × 122 cm, 794 g) is torso-sized and is the liner used in the HPMK. The 6 panel (86 × 152 cm, 1.13 kg) covers the full body and is often chosen for transport and air evacuation.

Can it be placed directly on the skin?

No. The instructions say not to use the blanket on exposed skin, to place the blue side towards the patient, and not to fold it or put objects on the heating panels, as the temperature can reach 52 °C.

Is it reusable?

No. Each blanket is single use. After use it is disposed of with regular waste, according to the maker's instructions.

Can it be used with oxygen therapy?

The instructions warn against use in an oxygen-rich environment, including a hyperbaric chamber or oxygen tent. Follow your service protocol for patients on supplemental oxygen.
