TacMed Solutions
Wide band. Fewer turns.
The SOF Tourniquet controls severe extremity bleeding with a true 1.5 in performance compression band, a machined aircraft-grade aluminium windlass and a composite Rugged Buckle that can be unhooked to route around a trapped limb. A red slack-indicator wedge stitched under the windlass shows when all excess slack is removed, which means fewer windlass turns to reach occlusion. The windlass is secured in the Tri-Ring Lock and held by the TRAC retention clip, with a time tag to record application.
Key specifications
Why the SOF Tourniquet
Slack you can see
A contrasting wedge stitched below the windlass confirms that all excess slack has been pulled from the band, a critical step that reduces the windlass turns needed to reach occlusion.
Metal windlass
The windlass is machined from a single bar of aircraft-grade aluminium with conical ends and a textured grip for consistent torque, and an anodised finish for durability.
Open or closed
The detachable Rugged Buckle lets the band be routed around a trapped or hard-to-reach limb, while the band still slides over an arm or leg for one-handed self-application.
Held in place
The TRAC retention clip holds the windlass under load until it is secured in the Tri-Ring Lock, which stops it shifting during patient movement. A time tag records application time.
Where it is used
Military and special operations units, police and security teams, fire and EMS services, public-access bleeding-control kits, worksites and humanitarian field teams.

Questions
Is the SOF Tourniquet available in the UAE and the GCC?

Is this the same as the SOFTT-Wide?
The SOF Tourniquet sold today is TacMed's wide-band model with a true 1.5 in band, and is the current form of the product many buyers know as the SOFTT-W. The maker's 2024 updates include an easier-pull action, new materials and lower weight.
How does it differ from the C-A-T?
Both are windlass tourniquets recommended for limb bleeding. The SOF Tourniquet uses a metal windlass, a buckle that can be detached for routing, and a stitched slack indicator; the C-A-T uses a polymer windlass with an internal band. Many services stock one type to keep training consistent.
Which colours are available?
Black, Rescue Orange, Tan and Red are operational versions. Trainer Blue is for training only and should not be stocked for real patients.
Do users need training?
Yes. Tourniquets should be applied by people trained in bleeding control, for example through TCCC, TECC or Stop the Bleed courses.
