Inside the Shaker Deluxe a weighted steel ball rises and falls as the user breathes out. This creates rapid vibrations and positive expiratory pressure that help open the airways and loosen mucus, so it can be cleared with a gentle huff cough. The device needs no assembly, and a rotating mouthpiece allows use while sitting or reclining. The standard model needs at least 11 cmH₂O to work; the Light and Kids versions need 8 cmH₂O.

Why the Shaker Deluxe
Vibration that loosens mucus
As the user exhales, the steel ball rises and falls rapidly. The vibrations and back-pressure help loosen secretions and move them towards the larger airways.
Three pressure levels
The standard Deluxe needs 11 cmH₂O, for stronger vibration. The Light and Kids versions need only 8 cmH₂O, for weaker users and children.
Use it sitting or reclining
The mouthpiece rotates, so the device can be held at the right angle while sitting or lying with the head raised, supporting postural drainage.
Drug-free and reusable
No assembly or power is needed. The device comes apart for washing after each use and is meant for one user over repeated sessions.

Which version should I choose?
The Deluxe (11 cmH₂O) gives the strongest vibration. The Light (8 cmH₂O) suits chronic conditions with weaker breathing muscles, such as COPD. The Kids (8 cmH₂O) is for children. For clinics that reprocess between patients, POWERbreathe makes the autoclavable Shaker Medic Plus.
How is it used?
Sit or lie with the head raised, hold the device horizontal, breathe in through the nose and breathe out slowly through the Shaker. After about five exhales, huff-cough. Repeat for around ten cycles, or as your clinician advises.
Who should not use it?
The manual says not to use it with a pneumothorax. People with severe cardiovascular disease should use it only on a doctor's advice. Stop if you feel dizzy.
What replaced the Shaker Classic?
POWERbreathe describes the Shaker Deluxe as the new and improved version of the Shaker Classic, with improved airflow and stronger vibration.
