AEROBIKA
Clear airways. Drug-free.
As the patient exhales through the AEROBIKA device, an intermittent valve creates positive pressure pulses that help hold airways open and vibrations that help loosen mucus, moving it towards the upper airways to be cleared with a huff cough. Five resistance settings match the device to each patient's expiratory capacity. It works in any orientation, can be combined with a small-volume nebuliser through a 22 mm port, and disassembles into four parts for cleaning, dishwashing or disinfection.
Key specifications
Why the AEROBIKA OPEP device
Pressure and vibration together
Intermittent resistance creates positive pressure pulses during exhalation that help open weak or collapsed airways, while airway vibrations help thin and loosen mucus.
Five settings, one device
A sliding indicator sets five resistance levels. Clinicians start in the middle and adjust so the patient can exhale comfortably for up to 10 minutes.
Works with nebulised therapy
A 22 mm port lets a small-volume nebuliser deliver bronchodilators or hypertonic saline during OPEP sessions, when advised by a healthcare professional.
Backed by published studies
Trudell cites a real-world study in which 18.5% of AEROBIKA users versus 25.7% of controls had a moderate-to-severe COPD exacerbation within 30 days.
Where it is used
Respiratory clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation, cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis services, post-discharge COPD care and daily home airway clearance.
