MiniMed

Half the size. No overtape.

Simplera sensors combine the sensor and transmitter in one disposable unit. Medtronic says it is about half the size of its earlier sensors, and insertion takes two steps and under 10 seconds. Simplera Sync connects to the MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Flex automated insulin delivery systems and needs no fingerstick calibration or overtape. Each sensor lasts up to 6 days, plus a 24-hour grace period, and can be worn in the shower or while swimming.

Why the Simplera Sync

All in one

The sensor and transmitter come pre-assembled in one disposable unit. There is no separate transmitter to charge or reuse, and nothing to put together before insertion.

Two steps, ten seconds

Simplera is inserted one-handed in two steps, which Medtronic says takes less than 10 seconds. The sensor is about half the size of earlier Medtronic sensors.

Made for automated delivery

Simplera Sync sends glucose readings to the MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Flex systems, which adjust insulin delivery automatically. No fingerstick calibration or overtape is needed.

For pens too

The standalone Simplera CGM works with the MiniMed Go app and InPen smart insulin pen, giving people on multiple daily injections glucose data and dose guidance in one app.

Everyday wear

It is protected against immersion at 2.4 m for 30 minutes, so users can shower and swim with it on. Each sensor lasts six days, plus a 24-hour grace period.

Where it is used

Diabetes clinics, paediatric and adult endocrinology, and home use by people on MiniMed insulin pumps or InPen therapy, on a prescription.

In the box

Simplera sensors are single-use and come individually sealed, with the sensor pre-loaded in its applicator. Medtronic does not publish a single pack count for all markets (the Simplera Sync IFU symbol key includes 'five per package'). Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.

Questions

Is the Simplera Sync available in the UAE and the GCC?

KGG sources Simplera and Simplera Sync sensors on request for hospitals, diabetes centres and pharmacies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Supply is subject to registration in each destination country, and availability is confirmed with each quotation.

What is the difference between Simplera and Simplera Sync?

Simplera Sync connects to MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Flex insulin pump systems for automated insulin delivery. Simplera is the standalone CGM that works with the MiniMed Go app and InPen smart insulin pen. The two sensors look and feel the same.

How long does one sensor last?

Up to 6 days, then a 24-hour grace period during which it keeps working, so users can change it at a convenient time. Warm-up after insertion takes about two hours.

Which pumps does Simplera Sync work with?

The MiniMed 780G and MiniMed Flex systems. The 780G also works with the Guardian 4 sensor. A pump software update may be needed when switching sensors.

How should sensors be stored in Gulf heat?

Store between 2 and 30 °C, up to 95% humidity, out of direct sunlight, and do not freeze. Shipments to the Gulf therefore need temperature-controlled transport and storage.
