Burnshield
Cools. Soothes. Protects.
Burnshield dressings are open-cell foam or cotton sheets soaked in a sterile hydrogel of 96% water, 1% tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) and 3% gelling agent. Applied in the emergency phase, the gel absorbs and dissipates heat, cools and soothes the wound and covers it with a non-adherent layer. The range covers small burns, faces, limbs, digits and large body areas, plus hydrogel bottles and ready-made burn kits. Dressings are gamma-sterilised with a five-year shelf life.
Key specifications
Why the Burnshield
Heat out, fast
The water-based hydrogel absorbs and dissipates heat from the burn, cooling and soothing the wound during the emergency phase.
Covers and protects
A non-adherent, sterile layer protects against further contamination and minimises trauma and skin damage, according to the maker.
A dressing for every site
Pre-cut face masks, limb and digit wraps for circumferential burns, and 1 × 2 m sheets for large areas.
Watch the wound
The white gel turns clear once applied, so the wound can be monitored without removing the dressing.
Where it is used
EMS and fire services, mines and heavy industry, military and police, kitchens, schools and workplace first-aid kits.
In the box

Does Burnshield contain tea tree oil?

How long does it keep?
Burnshield states a five-year shelf life from the date of manufacture, with gamma-irradiation sterilisation.
Which sizes suit a workplace kit?
100 × 100 mm dressings cover small burns and fingers; 200 × 200 mm suits medium burns and faces. The Essential Burn Kit bundles common sizes with hydrogel.
How is it applied?
Open the sterile pack, remove the dressing, place it over the burn and secure with a non-adherent bandage. Re-apply hydrogel to stop it drying out, and seek medical attention as needed.
