Franklin runs real-time PCR or isothermal assays in nine wells and reads three fluorescence channels, so it can detect up to 27 targets from one sample, three samples for nine targets each, or nine samples for three. It pairs with the Biomeme Go app over Bluetooth Low Energy or USB and works with Biomeme's lyophilised, shelf-stable Go-Strips or your own wet assays. Biomeme quotes sample-to-result in 30–60 minutes, depending on the protocol. It is for research use only, except when used with Biomeme's EUA SARS-CoV-2 assay.

Field-ready weight
At 1.2 kg with a built-in battery, Franklin is about the size of a Bluetooth speaker and runs on wall, battery or solar-to-DC power, so testing can happen away from the lab.
27 targets, nine wells
Three colour channels across nine wells give flexible multiplexing: one sample for up to 27 targets, or up to nine samples in a single run.
Shelf-stable assays
Biomeme Go-Strips hold pre-aliquoted lyophilised reagents that do not need refrigeration or wet mixing; empty strips are available for laboratories running their own assays.
Run it from a phone
The Biomeme Go app starts, monitors and analyses runs over Bluetooth Low Energy, online or offline, showing Cq values and amplification plots.
Real qPCR data
Franklin gives quantitative or qualitative real-time PCR results, with sample-to-result in 30–60 minutes depending on the protocol.

Is the Biomeme Franklin available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the Franklin and its Go-Strips on request for research institutes, universities, public-health laboratories and government programmes in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration and import rules in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Can it be used for patient diagnosis?
No. Biomeme labels the Franklin For Research Use Only, not for use in diagnostic procedures, with the exception of its EUA SARS-CoV-2 assay in the USA. Biomeme states its IVD products are still in development.
Will it work in Gulf heat?
The operating range is 4–40 °C. For outdoor work in summer, keep the unit shaded or in an air-conditioned vehicle or tent, and keep 5 cm clearance around it for ventilation.
How many runs does one charge give?
Biomeme quotes at least five qPCR runs per charge with a 1.5-hour recharge; the manual gives approximately 5 hours of battery. A test cannot start below 30 % charge, and the battery should be fully charged at least every three months.
What is the difference between Franklin and Franklin ISP?
Franklin is the 1.2 kg thermocycler for prepared samples. Franklin ISP is a separate, heavier model (4.3 lb per Biomeme) that adds automated sample preparation and nucleic acid extraction in single-use cartridges.
