Eyer
The retina, in one hand.
Eyer 2 captures 55 × 45 degree fundus images without dilation in most patients: infrared light is used to aim at the retina and a white flash takes the picture, so the pupil does not constrict while you align. Nine internal fixation targets centre the macula or optic disc, and panoramic and stereo disc captures are supported. A magnetic front module adds white, cobalt-blue and infrared illumination for the cornea, ocular surface and meibography. Images are stored on the phone and sent to EyerCloud, a PACS or a local folder over Wi-Fi or 4G using DICOM, DICOMweb or FTPS.
Key specifications
Why the Eyer 2
No dilation, most patients
Infrared light aims the camera without triggering the pupil, then a white flash captures the image. Pupils from 3 mm are supported; Phelcom recommends drops for smaller pupils.
55 degrees of retina
Each capture covers 55 × 45 degrees. Nine fixation targets centre the macula or disc, and panoramic mode builds a wider map of the peripheral retina.
Front of the eye too
A magnetic front module switches the camera to ocular surface work: white, cobalt-blue and infrared light for the cornea, lids and meibography.
Built for telemedicine
Images go from the phone to EyerCloud, a PACS or a local folder over Wi-Fi or 4G, using DICOM, DICOMweb or FTPS, for remote reading and reporting.
Slit lamp or handheld
Use it handheld at the bedside or in the community, or on a slit lamp with the supplied adapter. The dock station charges it between sessions.
Where it is used
Diabetic retinopathy screening, primary care, optometry, ophthalmology clinics, mobile and community screening programmes, and wards.

Questions
Is the Eyer 2 available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the Eyer 2 on request for clinics, hospitals, screening programmes and optometry practices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Does the patient need dilating drops?
Usually not. Eyer 2 is non-mydriatic and works with pupils from 3 mm, using infrared light to align before the flash. For smaller pupils Phelcom recommends mydriatic drops.
What changed from the first Eyer?
The FDA summary lists a wider 55 × 45 degree field (the first Eyer was 45 degrees), support for Galaxy S21, S22 and S23 phones, and a front module for ocular surface and meibomian gland imaging.
How are images shared and stored?
Images are stored in the smartphone app and can be sent to EyerCloud or to a PACS or local folder via DICOM, DICOMweb or FTPS over Wi-Fi or 4G. The customer is responsible for the receiving connection and storage.
Can it be mounted on a slit lamp?
Yes. A slit-lamp adapter is supplied, so the same camera can be used handheld at the bedside or in the community and mounted in the clinic. The dock station charges the smartphone between sessions.
