Huntleigh Dopplex

Flow and direction, in your pocket.

The Dopplex SD2 assesses blood flow in veins and arteries by sound and by a flow-direction display with four levels in each direction, plus the frequency of the connected probe. Interchangeable XS probes from 4 to 10 MHz cover deep vessels, oedematous limbs and peripheral or calcified arteries. A flow-separated stereo headphone output lets the clinician hear forward and reverse flow separately. It runs on two AA alkaline cells and replaces the Dopplex MD2 in Huntleigh's pocket Doppler range.

Why the Dopplex SD2

See the direction

A flow indicator shows forward and reverse flow on four levels in each direction, so the clinician can tell arterial from venous and antegrade from retrograde flow at a glance.

One unit, five probes

Calibrated interchangeable XS probes from 4 to 10 MHz, including the 8 MHz Widebeam, match the probe to the vessel depth, limb oedema or calcified arteries.

Hear each direction

Clear loudspeaker audio for everyday use, with a flow-separated stereo headphone output that separates forward and reverse flow for detailed venous studies.

Simple and portable

A combined on/off/volume control, probe parking, pocket clip and two AA cells; the unit sleeps automatically to save battery.

Where it is used

Vascular clinics, wound and leg-ulcer services, diabetic foot assessment, community nursing and acute wards, used by qualified healthcare practitioners in primary, acute and community settings.

In the box

Dopplex SD2 handheld unit, 2 × 20 g sachets of ultrasound gel, 2 × AA alkaline batteries and instructions for use (Huntleigh vascular Doppler brochure; the IFU also lists a carry bag). Probes (VP4XS, VP5XS, VP8XS, EZ8XS, VP10XS) are ordered separately; stereo headset, soft pouch, Doppler stand and gel are optional. Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.

Questions

Is the Dopplex SD2 available in the UAE and the GCC?

KGG sources the Dopplex SD2 and its XS probes on request for hospitals, clinics and community services in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. It is supplied subject to registration in each destination country, and availability is confirmed with each quotation.

How do I get a price?

Add the Dopplex SD2 to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents for your country, and can quote the probes and gel with it.

Can I still buy the Dopplex MD2?

The MD2 is no longer in Huntleigh's current range. The SD2 is Huntleigh's current bi-directional pocket Doppler; for waveform display, storage and ABI work Huntleigh offers the Dopplex DMX. We quote the current models.

Which probe do I need?

Huntleigh recommends 8 MHz (VP8XS or EZ8XS Widebeam) for peripheral vessels such as the dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial arteries, 4–5 MHz for deeper vessels and oedematous limbs, and 10 MHz for superficial applications.

SD2 or DMX?

The SD2 shows flow direction on a monochrome display with audio. The DMX adds a colour bi-directional waveform display, micro SD storage and USB, and is the basis of Huntleigh's ABI and ankle-toe pressure kits.

How does it cope with Gulf heat?

The SD2 is rated to operate from +5 to +40 °C. Huntleigh warns against excessive heat and prolonged sunlight, so avoid leaving it in vehicles; remove the batteries if it will not be used for a long period.
