Echo-Son
Bladder volume. Measured, printed, done.
The PINIT from Echo-Son is a dedicated bladder scanner for wards, urology clinics, rehabilitation units and long-term care. Place the S 255B probe above the pubic bone, press once, and the tool4vol software outlines the bladder and reports its volume on the 7-inch touchscreen, up to 1,499 ml for adults and children. Quick, Automatic and Manual modes cover routine post-void residual checks as well as difficult cases, a built-in thermal printer gives a dated record for the chart, and the whole system packs into a carrying case at about 2.6 kg. A diagnostic B-mode adds basic visualisation and measurement of the urinary organs and prostate.
Key specifications
Why the PINIT
One press, one number
The S 255B probe starts the measurement with a single button. The tool4vol software outlines the bladder in real time and shows the volume on screen in about two seconds, so a post-void residual check takes less time than preparing a catheter.
Fewer needless catheters
Echo-Son designed the PINIT to minimise unnecessary catheterisation and the urinary tract infections that follow it, to support incontinence care and to help spot post-operative, acute and chronic urinary retention early.
Three modes for real bladders
Quick estimation for triage, Automatic BV for routine measurements and a Manual mode with three algorithms for small volumes, unusual anatomy or difficult acoustic windows, for men, women and children.
A record for the chart
The built-in thermal printer produces a dated report with the bladder outline, and results can also be stored in the patient database, exported by USB or sent to PACS and RIS with the optional DICOM 3.0 module.
Carry it, or wheel it
At 1.4 kg the PINIT fits in a carrying case at about 2.6 kg complete, runs on its own Li-Ion battery and charges while in use. Departments that move from bed to bed can add the optional mobile trolley with castor wheels and an accessory basket.
Where it is used
Urology and gynaecology clinics, surgical and medical wards, post-anaesthesia recovery, rehabilitation and spinal units, geriatric and long-term care, and urodynamics laboratories as uroflowmetry support.

How do I get a price?
Add it to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents for your country, and we can quote the trolley, PINIT-PC software and DICOM option with it.
How accurate is the PINIT and what volume can it measure?
Echo-Son states a measurement error below 10%, with a range of 0–999 ml in the automatic modes and up to 1,499 ml in the semi-automatic modes. The manufacturer's calibration document is available on request.
Can it be used on children and on men with an enlarged prostate?
The manufacturer lists male, female and paediatric applications. For difficult cases, including small volumes and unusual anatomy, the Manual mode offers three outlining algorithms, and the B-mode allows visualisation of the bladder and prostate.
Does it need a trolley or a network connection?
No. The PINIT is a 1.4 kg tabletop unit with its own battery and carrying case, and results print on the built-in thermal printer. A trolley, PINIT-PC software for a Windows PC and a DICOM 3.0 module for PACS or RIS are optional.
Who can operate it?
The manufacturer describes the PINIT as easy to operate by trained medical staff. Nurses, physiotherapists and clinic staff can be trained in a short session; KGG arranges manufacturer training materials and in-service support on request.
