Contec
Oxygen saturation. At a fingertip.
The CMS50D family measures arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate through the finger: insert a fingertip and the reading appears on the display. The CMS50DL shows SpO2, pulse rate and a pulse-strength bar graph, warns of low battery and goes to standby when no finger is detected. Contec states SpO2 tolerance within ±2% from 70 to 99%. It is intended for spot-checks, not continuous monitoring.

Can it be used for continuous monitoring?
No. Contec indicates it for spot-checks of SpO2 and pulse rate only. For continuous monitoring with alarms, use a bedside or handheld monitor.
Is it suitable for children?
The FDA clearance covers adult and paediatric patients in home and hospital settings. Make sure the finger sits fully and correctly in the sensor.
What affects accuracy?
Movement, weak pulse or poor perfusion, strong ambient light and carbon monoxide poisoning can affect readings. Repeat the measurement and confirm clinically if in doubt.
