Contec
Mainstream EtCO₂. Pocket-sized.
The CA10M connects to the breathing circuit through an airway adapter and measures CO₂ by infrared absorption right at the airway, with no sampling line or pump. A colour screen shows EtCO₂, respiration rate and a real-time capnogram, with adjustable high and low alarms. It runs for about four hours on two AAA batteries and weighs 97 g. Contec lists it for pre-hospital transfer, emergency departments, ICU, operating rooms, neonatology and respiratory departments.
Key specifications
Why the CA10M
Measures at the airway
The mainstream sensor reads CO₂ inside the airway adapter on the circuit, so there is no sampling line, water trap or pump to manage.
Waveform on board
A colour screen shows EtCO₂, respiration rate and a live capnogram, in mmHg, kPa or %.
Alarms you can set
Audible and visual alarms for high and low EtCO₂ and respiration rate, adapter disconnection and low battery, with a sound pause button.
Runs on AAA batteries
Two standard AAA batteries give about four hours of use in a 97 g device, with automatic pressure and temperature compensation.
Where it is used
Pre-hospital emergency transfer, emergency departments, intensive care, operating rooms, neonatology and respiratory departments.
In the box
CA10M capnograph, user manual and one adult airway (gas path) adapter; a neonatal airway adapter is optional. Pack sizes and configurations are confirmed with the quotation.
Clearance & compliance
CE marked (notified body 0123) under the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC, as stated in the Contec user manual (CMS2.782.476(CE)ESS/1.1, 2019). No FDA clearance found. Supplied subject to registration in each destination country (MOHAP, DoH, DHA, SFDA or the equivalent authority). Certificates, declarations of conformity, IFUs and registration documents are provided with every quotation. Specifications are indicative and subject to manufacturer change.

Questions
Is the CA10M available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources the Contec CA10M capnograph and its airway adapters on request for hospitals, ambulance services and clinics in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
What does it need to work?
An airway (gas path) adapter connects the CA10M to the breathing circuit. One adult adapter is included and a neonatal adapter is optional. Contec asks for a zero calibration each time a new adapter is fitted, which takes about 15–20 seconds.
Mainstream or sidestream: what is the difference?
The CA10M is mainstream: it measures CO₂ directly at the adapter on the circuit, with no sampling tube or pump. Sidestream monitors draw a gas sample through a line to a separate analyser.
Can it be used during nebulisation?
No. Contec warns that aerosol from a nebuliser affects the optical window of the adapter, so the CA10M should not be used together with a nebuliser.
Will it work in Gulf summer heat?
Contec specifies operation from 5 to 40 °C and storage from −40 to 55 °C. Do not leave it in a closed vehicle or direct sun above these limits.
