BiliChek
Bilirubin, without a heel stick.
BiliChek directs white light into the skin and analyses the returning wavelengths, separating haemoglobin, dermal maturity and melanin from bilirubin to estimate total serum bilirubin. Each measurement uses a single-use BiliCal tip that recalibrates the device automatically, with no reagents. It can be used from 27 weeks' gestation to 20 days after birth, before, during and after phototherapy with the BilEclipse patch. A barcode scanner, keypad and Ethernet cradle link results to the laboratory information system.
Key specifications
Why the BiliChek
No needle needed
A gentle touch on the forehead or sternum replaces a heel stick for screening, which spares the baby pain and gives a result at the bedside within minutes.
Calibrated every time
Each single-use BiliCal tip recalibrates the device before the reading and is then discarded, reducing cross-contamination between babies.
Through phototherapy
The BilEclipse patch shields a small area of skin so transcutaneous readings can continue before, during and after phototherapy.
Built for the nursery
A colour screen readable in low light, step-by-step on-screen help and a tip pressure indicator that turns from yellow to green guide each measurement.
Straight to the record
An integrated barcode scanner captures patient and nurse IDs, and the docking cradle sends results over Ethernet to the laboratory information system.
Where it is used
Newborn nurseries, postnatal wards and mothers' rooms, neonatal intensive care units and paediatric outpatient clinics.

Questions
Is BiliChek available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources BiliChek and its BiliCal tips on request for hospitals, maternity units and paediatric clinics in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
How do I get a price?
Add BiliChek to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents for your country, and can include BiliCal tips and BilEclipse patches.
Does it replace a blood test?
BiliChek is used to assess the risk of hyperbilirubinaemia without a heel stick. Treatment decisions follow your unit's protocol, which usually confirms high transcutaneous readings with a serum bilirubin test.
What consumables does it need?
One BiliCal disposable calibration tip per measurement (packs of 50). BilEclipse phototherapy patches (packs of 50) are needed only if you measure during phototherapy.
Is BiliChek still a Philips product?
No. Philips divested the BiliChek family to International Biomedical, which now supplies the system, tips and patches and provides support. The device and its consumables are unchanged.
Which babies can it be used on?
Newborns from 27 to 42 weeks' gestational age, up to 20 days after birth and weighing 950–4,995 g, across all skin tones.
