Belmont

Warm fluid. Close to the patient.

The buddy lite warms blood and IV fluids in line, with the heater sitting less than 15 cm (6 in) from the patient to reduce line cool-down. One battery charge warms up to 4.4 litres from 20 °C to 38 ± 2 °C, and single-button operation keeps attention on the patient. A microporous membrane in the disposable set removes air automatically. The complete system weighs about 0.73 kg and is approved for ground and helicopter transport.

Air out, automatically

The disposable set has a microporous venting membrane, a one-way valve against backflow and a pressure-regulating valve.

Fits in a response bag

At about 0.73 kg for heater, battery and housing, the system packs into a medical bag or a dedicated canvas pouch.

Where it is used

Military and tactical medicine, ground ambulances and air medical helicopters, emergency departments, remote and ski patrol care.

Questions

Is the buddy lite available in the UAE and the GCC?

KGG sources the buddy lite and buddy lite AC on request for military, EMS, air ambulance and hospital buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.

Can it warm blood as well as IV fluids?

Yes. It is an in-line warmer for blood, blood products and IV solutions, with a maximum flow of 50 mL/min for fluid starting at 10 °C and 80 mL/min for fluid starting at 20 °C.

What is the difference between buddy lite and buddy lite AC?

The buddy lite runs on a rechargeable battery for portable use. The buddy lite AC adds an AC/DC power supply for continuous use, for example in hospital or a vehicle with mains power.

What consumables does it need?

Each patient needs a single-use buddy Disposable Set (905-00010, 24 per box), which connects to standard IV administration sets. Spare batteries, chargers and a 12 V vehicle charger are available.

Can it be used for rapid, high-volume transfusion?

It is designed for portable warming at moderate flow rates. For massive transfusion at high flow, Belmont offers the Rapid Infuser RI-2 as a separate system.
