Breg

Cold and compression, ward to home.

The Polar Care Wave pumps iced water through a Breg cold compression pad while a separate air pump inflates and deflates the pad around the joint. Cold and compression each have two settings and can be used together or separately. The unit is light enough to move from the hospital, physiotherapy clinic or athletic training room to the patient's home, and seven pad shapes cover the knee, shoulder, back, hip, foot and ankle. It is a prescription device for single-patient use.

Why the Polar Care Wave

Cold plus compression

Iced water cools the pad while an air pump squeezes and releases it around the joint, combining two therapies Breg designed to reduce pain and oedema after surgery or injury.

Settings to prescribe

Two cold levels and two compression levels, each of which can be switched off, let the clinician set the protocol for each recovery stage.

Facility to home

A compact, carry-handle unit with hose storage moves from hospital or clinic to the patient's home, so therapy continues after discharge.

Quiet at night

Breg describes the pump as whisper-quiet, so patients can use it while resting and keep to their treatment schedule.

Pads for each joint

Seven Breg cold compression pads fit the knee, large knee, shoulder, back, hip, foot and ankle, and a Y-adapter allows both knees to be treated at once.

Where it is used

Orthopaedic and sports medicine practices, hospitals after joint surgery, physiotherapy clinics, athletic training rooms and home recovery on prescription.

In the box

Questions

Is the Polar Care Wave available in the UAE and the GCC?

KGG sources the Polar Care Wave INTL, pads and accessories on request for hospitals, orthopaedic and physiotherapy clinics and sports teams in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.

How do I get a price?

Add it to your quote list or use Request a quote. We reply with pricing, lead time and the documents for your country, and can quote the unit with the pads and ice bags you need.

Can the cold and the compression be used separately?

Yes. Cold has Colder, Cold and Off settings, and compression has Regular (50 mmHg), Low (25 mmHg) and Off, so either therapy can run alone if the clinician prescribes it.

Which pad do I need?

Breg makes universal, knee, large knee, shoulder, back, hip and foot/ankle cold compression pads. Use only the Breg pad designed for the body part being treated; other pads may not connect or may run colder.

How long does the cooling last?

With four Breg Ice Bags, Breg advises swapping them every 4–5 hours. With cubed ice, top up and replace water every 6–8 hours or as needed.

Is it safe for every patient?

No. Cold can cause serious skin injury, so skin must be checked every 1–2 hours. It is contraindicated in conditions such as significant vascular impairment, DVT, uncontrolled hypertension or heart failure, and unstable fractures. It is used on prescription only.
