Cooler Heads
Scalp cooling. Untethered.
Amma circulates a chilled coolant through a Cooling Wrap held in place by a neoprene strap and a compression cap, cooling the scalp before, during and after chemotherapy. The cooling unit runs from mains power, an internal rechargeable battery or a car supply, so patients can leave the infusion chair and finish post-infusion cooling elsewhere in the centre. It uses a readily available mix of 70% isopropyl alcohol, water and ice instead of a proprietary coolant, and the wrap is fitted once and stays on for the whole session.
Key specifications
Why the Amma
Cooling that travels
Mains, internal battery and car power keep the unit cooling while the patient moves, so post-infusion cooling can continue away from the chair and free up chair time.
Fitted once
The Cooling Wrap is fitted at the start and stays on for the whole session; nothing is swapped mid-treatment, unlike manual cold caps.
No proprietary coolant
The reservoir takes 70% isopropyl alcohol, water and ice, all readily available, instead of a proprietary cooling mixture.
Support for the centre
Cooler Heads provides a dedicated care line and staff training tools, and a Crown Measuring Guide helps staff choose the right size.
Where it is used
Oncology infusion centres treating adults with solid tumours who receive chemotherapy that causes hair loss, prescribed by the treating provider.

Questions
Is the Amma available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources Amma on request for oncology centres and hospitals in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Which patients is it for?
Adults with solid tumours receiving chemotherapy that causes hair loss; the maker specifies patients aged 21 and over. Listed contraindications include head and neck cancers, CNS malignancies, haematological malignancies, cold sensitivity or cold agglutinin disease, and a history or suspicion of scalp metastases; the full list is in the maker's documentation.
Does it guarantee that hair is kept?
No. The maker states that hair preservation is possible but some thinning may still occur, and results vary with the chemotherapy regimen and the individual. It advises continuing cooling even if some hair loss occurs.
How long does a session last?
Cooling starts about 30 minutes before the infusion, continues throughout it and for 2–3 hours afterwards, depending on the regimen. The portable unit lets patients complete post-cooling away from the infusion chair.
What does the unit need to run?
Mains power (100–240 V AC), its internal rechargeable battery or a car supply, plus a coolant of 70% isopropyl alcohol, water and ice. No proprietary fluid is needed.
