CEFALY
Treat migraine. Prevent the next.
CEFALY Connected attaches magnetically to a self-adhesive electrode placed between the eyebrows and stimulates the trigeminal nerve through the skin. It runs two programmes: a 60-minute Acute session at the first sign of an attack and a 20-minute Prevent session used every day. The CeCe app pairs over Bluetooth to start and stop sessions, adjust intensity, keep a migraine diary and create reports to share with a clinician. It is cleared in over-the-counter and prescription versions.

Questions
Is the CEFALY Connected available in the UAE and the GCC?
KGG sources CEFALY Connected on request for hospitals, neurology clinics and pharmacies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, supplied subject to registration in each destination country. Availability is confirmed with each quotation.
Does it need a prescription?
The FDA has cleared CEFALY Connected in both over-the-counter and prescription versions. The requirements in each GCC country are confirmed during registration.
How soon does prevention work?
The 20-minute Prevent session works best when used every day. The maker says results take at least two to three months and reports a reduction of 50% or more in migraine days for over a third of patients after 3 months.
What consumables does it need?
Self-adhesive electrodes. Each can be reused with proper care and is replaced when the gel is dried out, dirty or cracked, or when it no longer sticks. Hypoallergenic electrodes are available from the maker for people who react to the acrylate adhesive.
Are there side effects?
The maker reports that side effects in trials were generally minor and fully reversible. Users should stop and consult a clinician if headaches, nausea, tooth pain, tinnitus or excess tearing persist, and stop a session if vision becomes blurred.
