The EM 50 Menstrual Relax combines transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) with optional soothing heat in a flexible silicone pad that sticks to the lower abdomen. Heat (up to 43 °C) and TENS, with 15 intensity levels, can be used together or separately. Sessions last 20 minutes and switch off automatically, and the rechargeable battery gives up to six sessions per charge. It is a home-use medical device for relief of menstrual pain and endometriosis pain.

Two therapies, one pad

A slim, wireless silicone pad shapes itself to the body and sits under clothing, so it can be used at home, at work or on the move.

Beurer cites an observational study with 59 women with primary dysmenorrhoea, in which more than 80% reported pain relief in the first three days of the cycle.
Rechargeable
A 320 mAh battery charges by USB-C and gives up to six 20-minute sessions. Replacement gel pads are sold separately.

At home and on the move by women with period pain or endometriosis pain, as a medication-free option alongside medical advice.

How does it relieve period pain?
TENS sends gentle electrical pulses through the skin that reduce the transmission of pain signals in the nerve fibres. The heat function, up to 43 °C, relaxes the muscles. Both can be used separately or together.
How long does a session last?
Each session lasts 20 minutes and the pad then switches off automatically. Beurer recommends waiting at least 30 minutes between applications. One charge gives up to six sessions.
Who should not use it?
Beurer says not to use it with a pacemaker, insulin pump or metal implants such as copper coils, during pregnancy, with epilepsy, heart rhythm disorders, cancer or high fever, or near the heart. A doctor should be consulted first in cases such as high blood pressure, diabetes or unexplained chronic pain.
When do the gel pads need replacing?
When they no longer stick firmly to the skin, or when the device beeps and switches off even though it is attached. Uneven contact can irritate the skin. Replacement pads are item 648.49.
